Camogie Notes Monday, 16th May.

Leinster Senior Championship: Our Seniors played very well when defeating Kildare 1-15 to 0-11 on Wednesday last at DCU in the Leinster Senior championship. But they lost the semi-final 1-09 to 3-13 to Offaly on Sunday in Birr. Offaly face Wexford in the final. Attention now focuses on preparation for the Liberty Insurance All Ireland championships. Dublin travel to face Kilkenny in their first championship game on Saturday 25th June.

Poc Fada 2016: Beann Eadair will again host this year's Poc Fada competitions – Under 16 Poc Fada is on Wednesday 25th May and the Adult Poc Fada is on Friday 27th May. The maximum number of entries permitted in each competition is 12. Should more than 12 entries be received then a preliminary competition will be held in the Phoenix Park on Sunday 22nd May to decide on the 12 to go forward to Beann Eadair. Nominations must be submitted to An Rúnaí by Thursday 19th May.

We are Dublin Adult Leagues 2016: Round 7/8 and some back fixtures are schedulled for this week in the We are Dublin adult leagues - Tuesday 17th May for Sen 1, 2, 6 & 7 and this Thursday 19th May for Sen 3, 4 & 5. The Senior 5 League final is fixed for Thursday between Ballinteer St. Johns and Cuala. All our fixtures/results etc. (Juvenile and Adult) are available on the Dublin Camogie website. Clubs are reminded to ensure that all players are registered as failure to do so will cause problems.

Under 14 news: Well done to the 3 Dublin teams Navy, White and Blue which participated in the Portlaoise Intercounty Blitz on Saturday and brought 2 trophies back to the capital. They will play in the James Hurley Blitz in Mallow on 4th June. Congratulations to Ellie Young (Naomh Jude) who scored a 2 pointer from a side-line cut in the under 14 Div1 league game v St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh. Ellie now joins a very select group of players who have scored points direct from side-line cuts in league or championship games. Well done.  All in Naomh Judes must be very proud of you!

Gael Linn: Gael Linn tournament takes place in Abbotstown this coming Sunday 22nd May.- Best of luck to the 7 Dublin players who have ben selected on the Leinster panel for the Gael Linn tournament Sile Cotter (Ballyboden St. Endas), Caitriona Power (Naomh Mearnóg), Laura Twomey (Naomh Mearnóg), Ali Twomey (Lucan Sarsfields), Siobhan Keogh (Naomh Fionnbarra), Ali Maguire (Naomh Uinsionn) and Orla Beagan (Lucan Sarsfields)

Dublin Post-Primary Schools Camogie - Minor Championships Finals 2016: Well done to all involved in this year’s Minor finals which were played on Monday 9th May at Good Counsel GAA Club, Davitt Road. Congratulations to all the teams - Minor A Championship Final: St Joseph’s College Lucan defeated Our Lady’s Terenure, Minor B Championship Final: Castleknock CC defeated St. Mary’s Nass and in the Minor C Championship Final: Mount Sackville (Chapelizod) beat Loreto Crumlin

Hurl Smart week June 6thto 12th: The Camogie Association is running the annual Hurl Smart Week from the June 6th to 12th in conjunction with ChildFund Ireland and the Dream Bike Campaign. Run a ‘Hurl Smart Week’ in your club and be in with the chance to bring your club Camogie under 12 team to Croke Park in August! Just register your club’s interest, run a ‘Hurl Smart Week’, submit a report of events and you could be in with a chance to play in Croke Park. Check out www.camogie.ie for full details.
