Camogie Notes Monday 26th September
We are Dublin Dublin club championships: We are now at the cutting edge of our adult championhips. St. Vincents booked their place in the Senior 1 final when defeating Naomh Mearnóg 3-9 to 0-7. They will face the winners of Lucan Sarsfields and Na Fianna who drew 1-7 each. That semi-final replay will take place at Lucan Sarsfields grounds at 11 o’clock on this coming Sunday, 2nd October. Our championship finals are scheduled as follows: Sunday 9th October - Senior 1 Vincents v winners of Lucan v Na Fianna; Senior 2 St. Judes v Skerries Harps; Senior 3 Kilmacud Crokes v Faughs Celtic. Sunday 16th October – Senior 4 Cuala v Naomh Padraig; Senior 5 Whitehall Colmcilles v Cumann Baire Chaoimhín. Senior 6, 7A and &B are currently at the concluding stages with the finals scheduled for Sunday 30th October. Venues and times for all championships TBC.
Juvenile championships: Juvenile championships are at the concluding stages with the finals scheduled for Saturday and Sunday 22nd and 23rd October. Venues and times TBC. What a busy weekend of juvenile activity in October! Checkwww.dublincamogie.ie for all juvenile championship details.
Minor championships: Clubs are invited to take part in this year's Minor championships. Applications are now being accepted for our Minor championships. We will run an A B & C championships with possibly a D competition, depending on numbers entering. These competitions will commence around 15/16th Oct and finish around the middle of November. Clubs wishing to enter the Minor championships should contact an Rúnaí on or before Friday 30th Sept. Clubs should indicate which championship/s they wish to enter.
Under 12 school of Excellence: Well done to all involved with the U-12 School of Excellence which concludes this Friday at Abbotstown from 6.30 to 8.00pm. Clubs and individuals will be contacted during the week. Check our website for further details.
Well done to Good Counsel on their Re-enactment of Bloody Sunday 1920 which took place at Good Counsel's pitch on Davitt Road on Saturday, 24th September 2016 at 2.45pm. Seminar "The GAA and the Revolution in Ireland 1913 -1923 with guest speakers took place the previous evening at 8.00pm.
Roadstone to help promote the development of juvenile camogie in Dublin: Pat Martin, Chairman, Dublin Camogie County Board, received a cheque from Larry Byrne, MD Roadstone to help promote the development of juvenile camogie in Dublin. The presentation took place at the recent Under 12 School of Excellence session.
Shinty trip to Scotland: Dublin Camogie has been invited to send a team to play Scotland in a Shinty/Camogie tournament in Aberdeen. The trip takes place Friday to Sunday 21st-23rd October.
TG4 Ladies Football finals: Tough luck on the Dublin lady footballers who agonisingly lost this year’s senior final to Cork by a single point (again!) Well done to our Leinster neighbours Kildare and Longford on winning the intermediate and junior finals.
